Leah Laffey

Leah Laffey

Chief Executive Officer

Leah brings more than 25 years of healthcare management experience to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley, including experience in acute care hospitals, acute inpatient rehabilitation, long-term acute care and hospital operations in Pittsburgh and New Castle. She has held a number of progressively responsible management positions including chief nurse, vice president, chief operating officer and chief executive officer. Leah is actively engaged in a number of professional organizations, community initiatives and government relations activities that positively impact the delivery of rehabilitation services to patients and families. She has contributed to articles that have been published and is often recognized for her community involvement throughout southwestern Pennsylvania. Leah received her doctorate degree in 2010. She is committed to seeing that patients who receive rehabilitation care receive the best outcome.
Ellen Mustovic

Ellen Mustovic, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Mustovic has practiced in Pittsburgh as a physiatrist, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) since 1990. She brings more than 25 years of rehabilitation experience to her role as medical director. Dr. Mustovic graduated summa cum laude from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania; and completed her medical degree at The University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. She completed her internship and residency in PM&R at the University of Pittsburgh and joined the group practice, Medical Rehabilitation Inc., upon finishing her residency. She has served as associate program director of the St. Francis and University of Pittsburgh Residency programs in PM&R, vice chairperson of the Mercy Hospital Department of Rehabilitation as well as medical director of the rehabilitation program at Mercy Providence Hospital. She enjoys teaching resident physicians as a way of promoting and developing the field of rehabilitation.

Scott Bleakley

Scott Bleakley

Director of Therapy

Scott leads the team of inpatient and outpatient physical therapists at HealthSouth Sewickley. A graduate of D’Youville College with a master’s degree in physical therapy, Scott has been with HealthSouth in the Pittsburgh region for more than 14 years. Scott teaches and guest lectures across a variety of universities including: The University of Pittsburgh; Chatham College; and Duquesne, Slippery Rock and Saint Frances Universities. He has been published in a variety of professional magazines and was named as HealthSouth’s Clinician of the Year in 2003, selected among HealthSouth’s nationwide network of clinicians. Scott is currently working towards his doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh in the field of rehabilitation science with a focus on robotic interventions for the treatment of persons after a stroke.
Melissa Coleman

Melissa Coleman

Director of Human Resources

Melissa joined HealthSouth Sewickley in late 2011, bringing more than 13 years of human resources experience in the healthcare industry. She is a graduate of Cheyney University, located outside of Philadelphia, and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management. She obtained her master’s degree in human resources administration from LaRoche College, located in the north hills of Pittsburgh. Melissa is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and volunteers with community projects and other business organizations. She is committed to her staff and management team.
Melissa Kolin

Melissa Kolin, RN, CRNP, DNP

Chief Nursing Officer

Melissa is our chief nursing officer. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Melissa served as the vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer in the Dignity Health System in California. Before that, Melissa was the vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer in the UPMC Health System at UPMC Horizon for eight years with administrative responsibility over their inpatient rehab unit. She also served as the emergency director at UPMC St. Margaret’s. Melissa is a surveyor for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Pathway to Excellence, where she credentials Magnet programs in hospitals. As part of this program, Melissa has demonstrated success in helping hospitals maximize both the patient experience and employee engagement. Melissa is a nurse practitioner and holds a doctorate in nursing.

Cindy LaVella, RN, CRRN

Area Director of Marketing Operations

Cindy is our area director of marketing operations and oversees the facility’s admission process, marketing services and the team of clinical liaisons. She has 26 years of nursing experience and has honed her knowledge of managed care products. She has been a HealthSouth employee since 2010, beginning as a clinical liaison then promoted to senior clinical liaison with elements of the marketing coordinator – managed care. She is a diploma registered nurse from Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing and became a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse in 2012. She is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and the Case Management Society of America.

Michelle McCann

Michelle McCann, OTD, OTR/L, CBIS, C/NDT

Director of Quality/Programs

Michelle is the quality director/ program director for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley with more than 20 years of experience in occupational therapy and healthcare. In addition to her work maintaining quality outcomes in patient care, she serves as the program director for the hospital’s Disease Specific Care Programs with the Joint Commission.  Michelle earned her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and her doctorate degree in occupational therapy from Chatham University in Pittsburgh.  She is a licensed occupational therapist and is certified as a brain injury specialist (CBIS) with the Academy of Brain Injury Specialists and a certified neuro-developmental treatment therapist with the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA).  Michelle’s work has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (PARF Leadership Award 2011), HealthSouth Corporation Therapy Leader of the Year (2012), The Hospital Association of Pennsylvania (Achievement   Award 2013), and Duquesne University Leadership Award (2013).

Margaret Speth

Margaret Speth

Director of Case Management

Marge brings 15 years of case management experience to HealthSouth Sewickley. Her nursing experiences include serving as a case management director at acute care and long-term acute care hospitals. Marge received her registered nursing degree from Community College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Continuing her education at La Roche College, she obtained her bachelor's degree in nursing. Marge also attended St. Francis University where she obtained her master’s degree in health administration. She spends her free time at the YMCA, local animal shelters and church functions. As the link between the patient and the rehabilitation team, Marge is dedicated to have the patient and their family members actively participate in the treatment plan and transition to home.
Dan Vrana

Dan Vrana

Controller

Dan is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 30 years of financial management experience in the healthcare industry. Dan worked for seven years in public accounting serving a broad spectrum of healthcare clients. His progressive experience in the private health care sector covers a wide variety of financial and administrative positions including seven years as a chief financial officer. Dan became a member of the HealthSouth team in 2011. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and an Advanced Member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
